National Suicide Prevention Hotline

While there are serious risks involved with calling this hotline, it is still a valid resource. Make sure you are aware of the risks of this hotline before calling, as about 20% of calls are reported to the police. If you do not want to accept the risks of this hotline, this list of warmlines offers similar services with much less risk. If you are in serious danger of harming yourself, or you need to talk to someone trained immediately it is still a great resource.

Anxiety and Depression Association of America

The ADAA is an organization that has resources for all demographicsspecific disordersand access to professional help. It also includes mental health information, access to low cost professional help, and stories of people who overcame mental health struggles.

Trevor Project and GLBT National Hotline

The Trevor Project and the GLBT National Hotline are great resources for the mental health of LGBTQ+ people who face mental health problems. The Trevor Project has resources for calling, texting, and online messaging, as well as general LGTBQ+ information and places to talk to LGBTQ+ youth. Glbtnationalhotline.org also has many resources for LGBTQ+ persons of all ages, such as talklines and chatrooms.

RAINN

RAINN is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization, which is committed to helping survivors of sexual assault. It provides a mobile app, a hotline (800.656.4673), and a chatbot

NAMI Helpline

The NAMI HelpLine is a great resource to contact trained professionals for any mental health need. Open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m., ET., in order to access this helpline:

BetterHelp is an organization that connects people to online therapy and virtual mental health services, which is usually much cheaper than in-person therapy.

SAMHSA

SAMHSA, or the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, is a part of the federal government that strives to improve the lives of people living with mental and substance use disorders, and their families. They have access to professional treatment for a multitude of substances, as well as confidential hotlines.

National Domestic Violence Hotline

The National Domestic Violence Hotline is a 24-hour confidential service for those who are currently suffering or have suffered domestic violence, intimate partner violence and relationship abuse. Call 1-800-799-SAFE (7233), text "START" to 88788, or contact their online chat services.
